Poster Per Diem: Peter Gutierrez’s Alien Movie Poster

It goes without saying that Alien is one of the best horror films ever made. It also goes without saying that Alien is one of the greatest science fiction movies ever put to celluloid. And now, it goes without saying that Peter Gutierrez’s Alien screen print is one of the sweetest looking prints around. The thing that most caught my attention about this artwork was how neatly Peter’s design adopts the film’s aesthetic. There’s a claustrophobic, under-lit quality to the piece that’s one part eye-catching, and two parts absolutely terrifying.

Heads Up: Mondo’s Texas Frightmare Weekend Movie Posters

Remember when Mondo didn’t release a new print every week, let alone three posters in a single day? It was a simpler time. A time when three nickels got you a gallon of gas, a dollar in change, and a liter of milk. Granted, I may be misremembering a few things here or there, but the gist of my recollection remains true, which is to say: things be changing, yo. Fresh off their most recent trip to Texas Frightmare Weekend (AKA a horror hound’s paradise), the folks at Mondo have gathered up the remaining Frightmare stock and will soon be releasing some damn impressive artwork.

Review: Randy Ortiz’s “Harbinger of Everlasting Rot” Art Print

Randy Ortiz’s growing body of work continues to suggest the man’s an unstoppable creative force. He’s been collaborating with Mondo more frequently as of late, while still continuing to mine the depths of his imagination for his more personal compositions. (That’s not to say the beautiful Army of Darkness or The Thing prints weren’t personal in some way.) Teaming up with the art obsessives over at Poster Collective, Randy will be releasing “Harbinger of Everlasting Rot” later today. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s one of his best yet.

Poster Per Diem: Charles Moran’s The Deadly Spawn Movie Poster

I haven’t seen Deadly Spawn since I was a kid, but evidently the film has amassed a ton of fans throughout its lifetime. As far as low-budget 80s sci-fi horror movies go, few films have received more poster love than Douglas McKeown’s 1983 cult classic. So why did I choose Moran’s take on the alien invasion? More so than most, I thought Charles’ illustration really captured the DIY aesthetic that helped make Deadly Spawn so memorable.
